5 in 5 for August

Sandie started 5 in 5 on her blog last month.  It is just a really simple once a month thing to do, share 5 photos taken  in 5 minutes.  I joined in last month and was really excited and did it the day I saw her post my photos are here.

For August I took all my photographs in my parents garden and although I did this several weeks ago I am a bad blogger and am very late sharing them this month, so late in fact that the linky tool on Sandie's blog has now closed!

Here they are.......

better late than never!!

Our team challenge on UKS

Recently K (from K's crafty corner) and I set up a new team on UK Scrappers  we are the Chatty Scrappers! (If you have ever considered joining a team on UKS I highly recommend it, it has been a great experience and really great for boosting my scrapping mojo and joining in with other scrappers..... we will probably expand our team at some point so let us know if you are interested)

We have joined forces to set the weekly team challenge, there are 4 of us who regularly scrap and join in the challenges so we all decided on what we wanted to do and made example layouts.

Initially we decided on a sketch  (originally found here)

and then we chose to use only scraps (other than the background sheet) and to scrap about a holiday (I have chosen last year's Summer holiday but it could be Christmas or ski-ing or Easter whatever you choose)

It would be fab if you decide to join in with us and if you do please either pop over to UKS and join us or let us know on either K's or my blogs....... thanks xxx

My Meet Up Challenge

On Friday I am meeting up with a crafty friend, someone who started out as an online name in a forum, who became a virtual friend  and after several real life get togethers and regular chatting via Facebook,  I now count as one of my closest friends.  In case you haven't guessed it is K from K's Crafty Corner.

We are going to scrap together on Friday and I decided to set us a challenge, then after discussing it with our new teamies on UKS (we created the Chatty Scrappers in June) we opened it up for them to join in and I thought I would invite everyone else to join in too! Well, if we can't get together in real life let's go for a cyber crop...... we could meet you on Facebook if you want to chat and scrap with us on Friday just let me know if you want to join us.

I have chosen this sketch (as I love sketches sooooo much) from Let's Capture these Sketches

and challenge you to use something old, something new, something borrowed and some buttons!!

I would love it if you joined us just for fun, come and leave a link in the comments with your page so we can all have a look!

Sarah's Cards July Sketch Challenge

I am really bad at keeping this blog going... but I try and pop back occasionally!

As most of you will be aware I am a huge fan of sketches, so I love that Sarah's Cards has a monthly sketch challenge.  For July we were given this sketch

I loved the simplicity of the sketch and combined it with the Snap 2013 challenge over at UKS and I have entered it  into 'We challenge you' which opens for voting soon. There are some amazing layouts entered go and have a look it is very inspiring.

Anyway this is the page I made.......

which fits the 2 Peas CHA Summer 13.... nine older pieces challenge ( I have used 4 older bit of paper, 2 old sets of alphas, an old pen to write the journalling, old K & Co flowers and Old ink to stamp with!)  I do love a challenge!

5 in 5 July

I met Sandie in real life back in March when we went for a Bloggers weekend away and we even managed a quick meet up in Surrey a few weeks ago.  Now Sandie is a very talented lady and  I think she has many crafty inspirational ideas up her sleeve, 5 in 5 is the first of many (I hope!)

The idea is simple (which is probably why it appeals to a simple person such as myself!) all you have to do according to Sandie  is......

1. Choose a location.
2. Have your camera ready.
3. Set a mobile timer for 5 minutes.
4. Take as many photos you can until the time is up.
5. Choose 5 photos to download and share them via a link on Sandie's blog.

told you it was simple!

So today, whilst feeling lethargic in the heat I grabbed my camera, strolled into the garden and set the timer on my mobile phone and snapped away. I actually didn't take as many photographs as I thought I would and I deleted a lot of them but these are my 5 favourites, taken from the plant pots on the patio......

As I uploaded these pictures, I realised they all have something in common... they all seem to feature purply pinky flowers.... there are other colours in the plant pots but I was obviously drawn to these in the short time that I had.

I think this is going to be a great challenge to complete each month, if you would like to join in please visit Sandie's blog itchifingers to read more information and add your snaps to the linky tool.

This weekend I tried out the current challenge from a blog called Scrap around the World. Taking inspiration from this  mood board and sketch.....

This is the page I made.....

Obviously I took a huge amount of inspiration from the various camera images on the mood board, cutting out the large vintage camera image from an Echo Park sheet of paper and colouring some wooden camera veneers grey.  Although I didn't use any of the pastels I added the pale blue, green and red colours, taken directly from the images shown.  I loved the sketch and although it took a bit of fiddling I hand cut each of the banner pieces across the top and also the ones under the photograph that form the title 12.12.12 at 12:12 a historic date and time that had to be captured on camera!

I need to add some journalling as I want to write how important it was to take the photo at the right time and I only noticed the time as I was paying my bill at the hairdressers so quickly pulled out the camera and snapped this pic (which goes well with the whole camera theme) and my hairdresser Andrew joined in!  I realised I must have been in a hurry as if you look closely you can see I did my coat up wrong!

I really enjoyed this challenge with lots of cutting and sticking and planning.  I am looking forward to seeing what challenge 3 at Scrap around the World is..... go and have a look!
