sharing scrapbook pages on Sunday

This week on UKS the challenge was to use red and a cross ( I used a '+' sign as an 'and' in my subtitle), outdoor photographs and circles.

I made this page using pictures from son and hubby's trip to Wembley for the 2012 Olympic football, so the balls were perfect for the required circles.

Miniowner's February Sketch Challenge

Miniowner has another sketch challenge on her blog here for February.

Initially I wasn't sure how to use the sketch but I ended up turning it on the side and making my page

I have ended up with a lot of 'white space' to the right of the photographs but I felt like adding anything else would probably be a step too far in altering the sketch so I have let it simple but sparkly with gold mist and stars!

Sharing scrapbook pages on Sunday

This week on UKS the challenge was to use pink/red colours, a photo of best friends/ love and this sketch

and this is the page I made celebrating a meal with best friends on New Years Day

this was a challenge for me as I didn't really like the sketch, which is unusual for me and I am also not great with pink and red colours together but I managed it and the end result is fine.... though it does look more like a Valentine page than one to go in my JYC album!

Colour me scrappy challenge #55

This is the first time I have joined in with this challenge blog and it is a fantastic one.  Colour me scrappy challenge #55 combines both this colour palette

and this sketch

 which together made this page...

I am not sure how well the colours have come out in the photograph but they match up pretty accurately and it was a really fun challenge as I loved the sketch and I loved the colour palette and completed another layout to go in the Harry Potter album!

I look forward to joining in more CMS challenges in the future.

SJ Crafts first challenge

SJ Crafts blog has just started running a weekly challenge and for the first month it is this fab sketch designed by Jennifer Grace

I combined the sketch with my week 4 SNAP photography challenge from UKS (the theme was water) to create this page today at my monthly crop.... I used a couple of sn@p project life style cards and some American Crafts papers and it all came together fairly quickly.

One photo twenty words February

A windy outside day, a sick day, a day off, an out of work day but a day spent together.

This post is part of Abi's 1p20w a monthly collection of photos and words!

Scrap 365 Sketch challenge

I complete the Scrap 365 sketch challenge most months, and most months I completely forget to actually upload it to the blog..... but not this month!

This is the sketch and I immediately loved it....

and this is the page I made.....

I really like pages with 3 small photos going across the horizontal axis, something about this arrangement just appeals to my brain|! I kept the title and journalling very simple to fit in with the sketch and because I think I will be scrapping other photographs taken in my cousin's field!

I combined the Scrap365 sketch with the UKS monthly house challenge which was to use this colour palette....

Sharing Scrapbook Pages on Sunday

This week over at UKS we were challenged to use a snowy/frosty/cold photo, some glitter/sparkle/bling and blue and white colours.

This is the page I made....

I have used the Layout from video 2 of Shimelle's latest class though haven't quite done the same!  Obviously there is a large blue and white piece of paper used and the orange background sheet is actually quite sparkly but there is more glitter and bling from the embellishments and even the alphas have a bit of a shimmer!  The photo was taken in February 2012 when we stayed with my parents in  a cottage on a farm in Suffolk and it was so beautiful just going for a short walk in the surrounding fields, covered in snow.

Scrapology February Challenge

This month over on the Scrapology Blog the challenge is X for (e)xplosion.  There are some great pages from the DT using an explosion of colour whilst following this sketch.....

I decided to use just one photo and I created my explosion with plenty of misting, lots of brads and a large scattering of sequins....... definitely not my usual style.....

I kept the rest of the page very simple, colouring some white alphas to echo the shades or brown, orange and yellow in the photo.  Minimal journalling was required as this page will sit in an album next to another sunset photo from the same holiday.

Sharing Scrapbook Pages on Sunday

Colour me Scrappy (actually Color me Scrappy!) is a great source of inspiration with colours  and sketches... completely up my street.

I decided to complete CMS Challenge #53....
using the colours.......

and the sketch.....

to make another JYC page.....

I forgot to add the date before I took the photograph for this January page about saying goodbye to the elf after Christmas.  I am not sure when the challenge ended but it was obviously before January 31st as I had thought, as the linky was closed.

I decided to combine the CMS Challenge with the weekly UKS challenge which this week was...
use ONE black and white photo
frame the photo
use bling
use ink/mists
use no more then TWO flowers

Initially this was quite challenging as I didn't love the colours as I am not a pinky girl, I am also not a bling girl or a flower girl most of the time, yet I managed to add all the requirements to the page and ended up really liking it too!

A month of letters

My friend Sandie posted about 'a month of letters' on Facebook today.  It was a link to Postcrossing blogging about Mary Robinette Kowal  who in 2011, spent an entire month offline, asking her friends to communicate with her through letters.  She found the whole experience a revelation.

Mary decided to turn February into a Month of Letters and challenges people to join her in sending at least one piece of mail each day.  Which equates to 23 items in the USA as there is no post on Sunday and they have one Bank Holiday, so 24 items for us in the UK.

Mary says ''Write love letters, thank yous, or simply notes to say that you miss an old friend. Send a fabric swatch from your new dress. A feather you picked up while on a walk. Whatever it is, let yourself step away from the urgency of modern life and think about an audience of one. Think of it as sending 23 little gifts. And, who knows, you might enjoy going to the mail box again.''

So I am diving straight in and will be off to post my first piece of mail in a moment... are you up for this challenge?
